We feel that there are several ways to make change in our communities. One way is grass-roots capacity building in order to reconnect our communities to environmental issues that have an impact in their communities and neighborhoods. The other is through policy and regulatory advocacy. We work with adults and youth to help them to become active in local and statewide issues and policies that can have an impact in their lives and their communities. Below are links to information on policies, ordinances and movements and bills that we support or oppose. If you are aware of upcoming bills or policies being crafted that you think are in line with our work, please send us an email at policy@urbansemillas.com.
City of Los Angeles
The City of LA's Low Impact Development (LID) ordinance is moving forward and the Bureau of Sanitation wants to make sure its landmark LID guidelines will best serve our community. In a unique and transparent effort, the LA Stormwater Program will be coordinating the efforts of public officials, stakeholders, private industry and the general citizenry in the development of a LID Handbook.
